Paddington’s ABC by Michael Bond
Illustrated by John Jobban
In this story, the author takes a each letter of the alphabet and gives a word that starts with each specific letter. A picture is also shown to demonstrate the word. For example, on page one, letter Aa is given, the word apple is given, and a big red apple is drawn. The book contains examples like this from A all the way to Z.
Personal Rating-5
This book is an excellent way to teach children the idea that each word starts with a specific letter. They can learn to associate the letter with a word and a picture that relates to the word. The examples that are given in the book are common everyday objects that most children have seen before. I think this book would be a very effective resource to use to teach children their alphabet.
