Paul Bunyan
by Steven Kellogg
48 Pages
Paul Bunyan was the largest and strongest baby his mother and the state of Maine had ever seen before. This story tells the legend of how Paul Bunyan left Maine and took his Lumbering Crew with him to start a new life out west. The tales of how he ran with deer, wrestled with grizzles, and found babe the blue ox are shared in this book. Also, this book tells how Paul and his crew cleared land to make the Appalachian Mountains, how they dug the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River, and finally how they worked to shape the Grand Canyon.
Personal Rating= 4.5
Steven Kellogg did a good job retelling this story and the pictures are great. I personally do not enjoy these types of stories but I know that children will love them because of all of the wild adventures that Paul and his crew encounter. The story is very creative and does a good job at holding ones attention.
