Charlotte’s Web is about a young girl named Fern that falls in love with a pig named Wilbur. Wilbur is Fern’s best friend and she saves him from being slaughtered. Wilbur is moved and lives on Fern’s Uncle’s farm. Here he becomes friends with all of the other barnyard animals, especially the spider named Charlotte. Charlotte writes things in her web in order to save the pig. One day the family goes to the fair and Wilbur wins an award. Charlotte dies and Wilbur is very sad. However, he becomes friends with Charlotte’s offspring and his memories of Charlotte and what she did for him are never forgotten.

This is a great book about friendship. The characters in this story are very loyal to each other and it just demonstrates how to be a good friend and what individuals should expect from loyal friends. Also, this book would be an excellent book to use in the classroom as a read aloud. The book includes many words that would make for good vocabulary words.
